The supply in United Arab Emirates with fruits and vegetables is generally very good. The local production is not very well developed due to the climate and the natural resources and is seldom broth to the displays on the biggest supermarkets as Carrefour, Spinneys, Choitrams, The Cooperative Society etc. During the different seasons all different products are imported from different countries. At the moment in Careffour 3 kinds of tomatoes are on offer:from Jordan for the 2,45 AED per kg
from Holland for 14.95 AED per kg
and plum tomatoes from Holland for 19,95 AED per kg.

This is actually very valid question here and I have been meaning to add in brackets the converted prices of the tomatoes in the original post. The exchange rate is 3.68 AED = 1 USD.
